W6PO Memorial Club call on air June 14, 2008

The W6PO club call was on the air for the VHF contest June 14, 2008.
Mike Bach, Steve Mieth and Brian Westfal ran the station from Mt. Ashland Oregon.
Brian Palumbo and Dave Meacham operated from home. Bruce Clark was heard but contact was not made.

The following is an email from Mike Bach regarding the ARRL contest.


We had a great time up there on the mountain.
Six opened to FL and NY Sunday afternoon
also worked two station in Mexico, It sounded like
meteors all day Saturday, just enough to get 1/2
a call and that would be it.
The biggest thrill was working Iowa on 2m SSB.
The guy was in for about 5 minutes, only two or three
folks worked him!
We got a few requests for QSL cards.
Brian Westfal took a number of photos
so we should have those once he gets home.
The WX was absolutely fantastic, just about the best I
have ever see up there.

W6PO Callsign granted

As of January 11, 2006, we have the call sign W6PO for our club.

Vanity Call on Hold

We got caught in the suspension of processing vanity calls. Because of the hurricane season, ( Katrina & Wilma), ARRL has extended the expiration dates until possibly Dec. 25, 2005.

Vanity request submitted

I submitted a vanity call request for W6PO. I was told I should receive on/around October 1, 2005. With the recent halt on vanity calls, I hope this one gets through.
